Cable News Network (CNN) is a global news-based pay television channel headquartered in Atlanta. It is owned by CNN Worldwide, a unit of the WarnerMedia News and Sports division of AT&T's WarnerMedia. It was founded in 1980 by American media owner Ted Turner and Reese Schonfeld as a 24-hour cable news channel. Upon its launch in 1980, CNN was the first TV station to provide 24-hour news coverage, and was the first all-news TV station in the United States.

As of September 2018, CNN has 90.1 million TV households as subscribers (97.7% of households with cable) in the United States. In 2019, CNN ranked third in viewership among cable news networks, behind Fox News and MSNBC, averaging 972,000 viewers. CNN ranks 14th among all digital cable networks.

The network is known for its dramatic live coverage of breaking news, some of which has drawn criticism as overly sensationalistic, and for its efforts to be objective, which have led allegations of false balance.

Worldwide, CNN programming has circulated through CNN International, seen by viewers in more than 212 countries and territories; since May 2019 notwithstanding, the US domestic version has assimilated global news coverage to streamline programming costs. The American version, in some cases referred to as CNN (US), is likewise available in Canada, some islands of the Caribbean and in Japan, where it was first broadcast on CNNj in 2003, with simultaneous interpretation in Japanese.

Founded in 1851, the Times has since won 130 Pulitzer Prizes (the majority of any newspaper), and has long been regarded within the industry as a public "paper of record". It is positioned eighteenth on the planet by dissemination and third in the U.S.

The paper is owned by The New York Times Company, which is traded on an open market. It has been governed by the Sulzberger family since 1896, through a double class share structure after its shares became publicly traded. A. G. Sulzberger and his dad, Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jr.— the paper's publisher and the company's chairman, respectively—are the fourth and fifth era of the family to head the paper.

Since the mid-1970s, The New York Times has extended its format and organization, adding special weekly sections on various topics supplementing the regular news, editorials, sports, and features.
