Taobao, Inc. Marketplace (formerly "Taobao") was founded in May 2003 by Alibaba after eBay purchased Eachnet, China's online auction leader as at then for US$180 million and became a significant player in the consumer e-commerce business market. As of October 2013 it was the eighth most visited site in China. 

Taobao is presently a Chinese online shopping site, located in Hangzhou, and owned by Alibaba. It is ranked as the eighth most visited site according to Alexa Website ranking. Taobao.com was registered on April 21st, 2003 by Alibaba Cloud Computing (Beijing) Co., Ltd. 

In April 2008, Taobao presented a newly committed business-to-consumer platform called Taobao Mall to complement its consumer-to-consumer marketplace. Taobao Mall set up itself as the destination for quality brand name products for Chinese consumers. Taobao Mall launched a free web domain, Tmall.com, and upgraded its attention on product verticals and improvements in shopping experience around November 2010. It became a free business in June 2011 and changed its Chinese name to Tian Mao (Tmall) in January 2012. As of October 2013 it was the eighth most visited site in China. 

On April 29, 2013, Alibaba reported a speculation of US$586 million in Sina Weibo. As indicated by Reuters, the deal "should drive more web traffic to Alibaba's Taobao Marketplace, China's largest e-commerce site with a consumer focus. On August 1, 2013, Alibaba launched Weibo for Taobao, which allows users to link Sina Weibo accounts with Taobao accounts.

Tencent QQ, Inc. otherwise called QQ, is an instant messaging software program and online portal created by the Chinese tech genius. Tencent QQ offers benefits that give online social games, music, shopping, microblogging, films, group and voice chat programming. It is the world's fifth most visited site, according to Alexa. As of April 2014, more than 200 million active online QQ users were recorded. At the end of June 2016, there were 899 million active QQ accounts. 

Tencent QQ was first delivered in China in February 1999 under the name of OICQ ("Open ICQ", a reference to the early IM administration ICQ). 

After the danger of a brand name infringement claim by the AOL-owned ICQ, the product's name was changed to QQ (with "Q" and "QQ" used to suggest "cute"). The product acquired existing capacities from ICQ, and extra features, for example, programming skins, people's images, and emoticons. QQ was first delivered as a "network paging" ongoing communications service. Other features were later added, for example, chatrooms, games, personal symbols (like "Meego" in MSN), online storage, and Internet dating program. 

The official users runs on Microsoft Windows and a beta public version was launched for Mac OS X version 10.4.9 or newer. Formerly, two web versions, WebQQ (full form) and WebQQ Mini (Lite version), which use Ajax, were available. Development, support, and availability of WebQQ Mini, however, has since been discontinued. On 31 July 2008, Tencent delivered an official user for Linux, but this has not been made compatible with the Windows version and it isn't capable for voice chat.

Tencent QQ holds the Guinness World Record for the most highest number of simultaneous online users on an instant messaging program with 210,212,085 users online on July 3, 2014. 

In response of rivalry with other instant messengers, for example, Windows Live Messenger, Tencent delivered Tencent Messenger, which is focused on businesses.
